Safeguard their vision
Children's Eyecare
As they go from exploring the world to studying at school, we know how important clear vision is for your child.
Eye tests for kids
As 80% of a child’s learning occurs visually, clear vision and healthy eyes are important to a child’s social and educational development. Not all children will notice they have a problem with their vision as they do not realise what is normal. Children should have their first eye examination at around the age of four and earlier if you suspect any issues.
It doesn’t matter if your child is too young to talk or read a letter chart as we use a range of techniques and modern equipment to detect visual problems at any age. Our Optometrists are highly qualified and experienced in children’s eye examinations to make sure the experience is fun and engaging for both children and parents.
Eyewear and contact lenses for children
We stock a wide range of spectacles specially designed for children’s faces. Many have soft nose pads for extra comfort and sprung hinges to withstand extra wear and tear. Our team has years of experience in fitting children’s eyewear and they will be on hand to help you to find frames that are suitable, comfortable and your child loves to wear.
Cooper & Leatherbarrow also offer children’s contact lenses as an alternative to glasses. These may come in handy if your child is involved in sports or social activities where glasses may be inconvenient. Our Darlington practice also offers Myopia control lenses, specially designed to halt the progression of shortsightedness.
For a thorough eye examination using some of the most cutting-edge clinical equipment available in the North East, we're proudly well equipped to serve your needs.
